SCS for Structural Steel Tubes Coming out of the mill, the quality of the SCS tubes was impressive – excellent shape, a very smooth surface and no microcracking on the outside of the four corner bends. To test the rust-inhibitive qualities of the SCS tubes . . . read profile.
Treadplate Rust Removal We wanted to see if the SCS process can 'cure' rust on treadplate. That would help users avoid scrapping rusted sheets or the effort involved in removing rust. We already proved SCS completely removes surface rust from . . . read profile.
Cleaning Up Hot Rolled Black Advantages in material costs are harder to come by. If you make earth moving machinery or storage racks, you won't be switching from steel to plastic. But manufacturers who switch from the basic hot rolled black they've used . . . read profile.
Steel Tube and Pipe Production This producer uses hot-rolled and applies a transparent protective coating to selected products. That coating doesn't apply as uniformly to hot rolled as the producer would like; he's counting on SCS' smoothness . . . read profile.
Shape Correction to Restore Inferior Steel By the SCS Process Well, the customer was going to send out all the coils for tempering and leveling, but Gene suggested that the SCS Coil Line might fix the problem. The customer gave us the OK to SCS one of the problem coils as a trial . . . read profile.

SCS Fabrication Process Profiles

Don't think of SCS processing as strictly a means to produce a better steel for fabricating end-use products. It's also a means to enhance the value of flat-rolled steel that feeds other value-added processes.

For example, service centers use the SCS process to enhance coils so they perform better in tube/pipe production or roll forming processes. Others use the SCS process to remove rust or improve shape in order to recover the value of 'degraded' steel inventory.

To the right are case studies of using the SCS process to enhance the value of steel that will feed other 'downstream' processes. In these cases, SCS processed hot rolled replaced P&O and hot rolled black, and even cold rolled steel. Click on the links to the right to get the full story.
